September Free Image and New in the Studio!

Happy September!
The kids are back in school and summer is winding down.  You will have to excuse me, I've been a bit "blog lazy" during the summer months.  September is the most wonderful time of the year.  I have time to get back in to my studio, create fun art and I am fortunate because I have been chosen as a featured artist by Through the Craftroom Door Magazine.

If you are a TTCRD member, sign in to take advantage of two ADORABLE freebies I've left for you.  If you are not a member, well, you should fix that by signing up!  Click the icon above and be transported to get started.

I've featured two cards over at TTCRD.
Hoppy Day features Benedict Bullfrog.  I've added color to Benedict and his lily pad with Copic markers
Magic Card Features Bartholomew Bat.  Bartholomew and his "twin" are flying through a hazy sky at dusk created with the help of my Copics
You're the Best Features Oak Pond Creations Rooster.  You can see that "Georgie" (as I affectionately call him) was super excited when I grabbed my Prisma pencils and added color to his gorgeous self.
I've sketched two new images for the studio.
The first is Whimsy Flower.
And next up: Oak Pond Creations Thirty One
These two have been sitting in my sketchbook for a LONG time.  I just needed a bit of September weather to get me motivated to finish sketching and get them in the studio for you.  I hope they get you motivated to get crafty and create something fabulous!
Don't forget to grab your September freebies over at TTCRD and as always, hugs and happy crafting!

March is WICKED and Full of Dr. Seuss! Free Digital Stamp & New in the Studio

Happy Friday!  This month I want to share a couple of cards I made for family and friends.

I was a lucky lady to get invited to the coolest Dr. Seuss birthday party for two special little boys.
This is Thing 1 birthday boy with his Poppy Steve
...and Thing 2 birthday boy with Grandma Jeni
Look at all the yummy Dr. Seuss goodies!
These are just some of the clever creations made by the
Boys' mommy, Savannah and Grandma Jeni!

I had such fun putting these two cards together for the boys!

All paper was from recollections, EK ABC punch and spellbinders.  I made the letters with my cuttlebug alphabet die from dinosaur days.

After eating my green eggs and ham and Lorax cookies, I journeyed to the land of Oz and created another card.  My awesome, fun loving sister took me to the Durham Performing Arts Center in Raleigh, NC to see the play WICKED.
(L to R) Sister Donna, Me and my beautiful niece Beth
Copyright laws prevented us from taking any photos during the play but WOW was it fantastic.
For a thank you to my sister and niece I made them both cards with an Oz theme:
All Oz stamps are by Clear Art Stamps.  I added color with Copics.  Gears are from a jewelry collection I found at Michaels and the flowers are also from Michael's.
All paper is Graphic 45's An Eerie Tale collection.

New in the Studio.

There's a New Digi in Town!

Happy Day!  It's raining here in Myrtle Beach making it the perfect crafty day.  I hope my post finds you happy, healthy and creating beautiful works of art.  My friend Linda introduced me to a set of stamps called Gorjuss.  I couldn't wait to work with these adorable characters.  Here is just one of many cards I've already created using these sweet stamps.

I used my new VersaMark ink pad (thanks Jeni and Linda for the recommendation) and gold embossing powder for my sentiment.  This stamp is called White Rabbit and I've added color with Copics.  Gold glitter glue around the clock face and chain.  I've distressed the corners with Ranger walnut stain.
I hope it inspires you to get crafty this week.

Wing in a Sling and a Free Digital Stamp

Hello Bloggers!  The days are getting shorter and I'm finding more time to sketch new illustrations for the Oak Pond Creations Digital Illustration Studio.  I know you're wondering when new digis will arrive, I promise, I'll update you in the near future about that.  Today I want to share my latest creation and post a free digital stamp.  I made this card for a perfect little man who recently broke his arm.  Since his "wing is in a sling" I decided to color up Mr. Georgie Rooster and put a sling on his arm.  I hope this card gives the little guy a giggle.
It features Oak Pond Creations Rooster colored with Copics. Various designer papers from my stash, Cream colored tulle for Georgie's sling and bow as well as a Recollections brad.

Sketchbook News: New Release and a Happy Birthday!

It's a happy day at Oak Pond.  Our youngest son Evan is celebrating his 15th birthday today.  It's hard to believe how fast our sons have grown.  Take a look.
This was Evan yesterday:

And this is Evan (right) today:
Boy, does time fly!
Last week I  sat with Evan and watched him play a video game.  The game had crazy little pigs running around like mad and it made us laugh.  I asked Evan, would he like his birthday card character to be a pig.  He laughed and said "that'll be cool mom."  That was all the inspiration I needed.
Boris and his bucket of ice cream are ready for Evan's party.

For his card I've used Recollections card stock, a Tim Holtz embellishment, Recollections brads, Cuttlebug embossing folder and die (for the tag.) I added color with Copic Sketch markers.  Boris is in the studio and you can find him here:

I hope you have a great week.  Don't forget to visit the previous post and grab July's free digi before it disappears forever.  Hugs and happy crafting.

Sketchbook News: July's Free Digi and a Challenge!

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you are doing what you love and crafting your heart out this week.  It's been raining in Myrtle Beach with no sun in sight for the next few days.  No worries, I was able to make my own sunshine in the studio over the weekend.  Keep reading.

This week, I'm sponsoring the team at 613 Avenue Create.
The Designers have created beautiful inspiration cards to get you motivated.  Their theme is "Anything Goes" so of  course you can't go wrong annnd if you enter, you have a chance to win 3 stamps from my studio.

This weekend I decided to work on a project with one of my older stamps.  I visited my friend Linda over at Turtle in the Sand.  She works at a little scrapbook store in Myrtle Beach.  Linda held a color and chat class and we had a great time coloring our images and chatting away.  I decided to tackle a Birthday card with the image.  I've featured "Baxley's Sunflower." All paper is from my stash.  Solid card stock is Recollections.
Spellbinders ovals to trim the image, twine and sateen ribbon for embellishment and a Recollections brad.
Copics for color
See, I made my own sunshine :)
You can read more about Baxley's Sunflower and how it ended up on my sketchbook HERE.  Click the image below to purchase this image and create your very own sunshine!

Gaylord in Color and June's Free Digi!

Good Morning crafty friends.  It's a  perfect Tuesday here in sunny Myrtle Beach.  I hope the sun is shining on you wherever you are.  I'm back from a two day flash trip to New Jersey with mys sister.  We drove up to visit our dad.
Here we are at our favorite diner:
On Saturday we hung out with dad, watched some television and listened to stories from his childhood.  He was a small child during the World War II era.  He remembers collecting tin-foil pieces and nylons with his mother for the war effort.  His parents gave him a nickle or two a week to take to school and after saving $18.75 in nickles the family would get a $25.00 war bond.  He stood outside his house waving at the troops leaving for war and wondered how many of the boys he waved to would come back home.  Dad tells wonderful stories and has some great memories to share.
We had a nice weekend together. I love and miss you dad :)

When I travel, I always take a sketchbook, some images and my Prismas.  You never know when you'll sneak coloring time in, right?
I did find a bit of time to color between stories, during our History Channel marathon.
I colored Gaylord the Camel and here he is featured on my greeting card.
I use Prisma Pencils when traveling.  They're more portable than my Copics and cost less to replace if I happen to lose one.  The paper is Recollections Card stock.  Gaylord the camel can be purchased at the studio.  Click the watermarked image below to be transported:

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a fabulous week!

Sketchbook News: Going to Alaska and a Free Digi for June

Howdy friends.  I hope you're having a happy June so far.  I'm here to post your free digital stamp for June and show you where I've been and what I've been working on.  I was lucky to visit Savannah, Georgia USA last weekend.  Savannah is a historical masterpiece filled with art, music and architecture.  The perfect place to get lost with a camera.  I also stopped by Bonaventure Cemetery just outside the city.  Have a look at a few photos from my trip.

Seeing all those photos makes me want to go back!
OK, focus! Moving on to studio business :)
I've completed my first commission piece of art.  I sketched this piece for my dear mother in law, Marie.  Marie and I searched for a gift for her friend, Diane, who lives in Alaska.  After browsing through every local store in Myrtle Beach, we came up empty-handed.  Marie told me that Diane loves Irises so after some thought, I pulled up a few photos from my Iris garden and sketched this piece.
This sketch is moving to Alaska and I hope Diane likes it :)
You can purchase Oak Pond Creation's Iris as a digital stamp at Oak Pond Creations Digital Illustration Studio.  Click on the watermarked image below.
