Sketchbook News: New Release and a Happy Birthday!

It's a happy day at Oak Pond.  Our youngest son Evan is celebrating his 15th birthday today.  It's hard to believe how fast our sons have grown.  Take a look.
This was Evan yesterday:

And this is Evan (right) today:
Boy, does time fly!
Last week I  sat with Evan and watched him play a video game.  The game had crazy little pigs running around like mad and it made us laugh.  I asked Evan, would he like his birthday card character to be a pig.  He laughed and said "that'll be cool mom."  That was all the inspiration I needed.
Introducing:
Boris
Boris and his bucket of ice cream are ready for Evan's party.

For his card I've used Recollections card stock, a Tim Holtz embellishment, Recollections brads, Cuttlebug embossing folder and die (for the tag.) I added color with Copic Sketch markers.  Boris is in the studio and you can find him here:

Sketchbook News: July's Free Digi and a Challenge!

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you are doing what you love and crafting your heart out this week.  It's been raining in Myrtle Beach with no sun in sight for the next few days.  No worries, I was able to make my own sunshine in the studio over the weekend.  Keep reading.

This week, I'm sponsoring the team at 613 Avenue Create.
The Designers have created beautiful inspiration cards to get you motivated.  Their theme is "Anything Goes" so of  course you can't go wrong annnd if you enter, you have a chance to win 3 stamps from my studio.

This weekend I decided to work on a project with one of my older stamps.  I visited my friend Linda over at Turtle in the Sand.  She works at a little scrapbook store in Myrtle Beach.  Linda held a color and chat class and we had a great time coloring our images and chatting away.  I decided to tackle a Birthday card with the image.  I've featured "Baxley's Sunflower." All paper is from my stash.  Solid card stock is Recollections.
Spellbinders ovals to trim the image, twine and sateen ribbon for embellishment and a Recollections brad.
Copics for color
See, I made my own sunshine :)
You can read more about Baxley's Sunflower and how it ended up on my sketchbook HERE.  Click the image below to purchase this image and create your very own sunshine!

I hope you have a fabulous week.  Don't forget to check out the gals at 613 Avenue and remember to grab your Oak Pond Creations July Freebie!  Hugs and happy crafting.

Gaylord in Color and June's Free Digi!

Good Morning crafty friends.  It's a  perfect Tuesday here in sunny Myrtle Beach.  I hope the sun is shining on you wherever you are.  I'm back from a two day flash trip to New Jersey with mys sister.  We drove up to visit our dad.
Here we are at our favorite diner:
On Saturday we hung out with dad, watched some television and listened to stories from his childhood.  He was a small child during the World War II era.  He remembers collecting tin-foil pieces and nylons with his mother for the war effort.  His parents gave him a nickle or two a week to take to school and after saving $18.75 in nickles the family would get a $25.00 war bond.  He stood outside his house waving at the troops leaving for war and wondered how many of the boys he waved to would come back home.  Dad tells wonderful stories and has some great memories to share.
We had a nice weekend together. I love and miss you dad :)

When I travel, I always take a sketchbook, some images and my Prismas.  You never know when you'll sneak coloring time in, right?
I did find a bit of time to color between stories, during our History Channel marathon.
I colored Gaylord the Camel and here he is featured on my greeting card.
I use Prisma Pencils when traveling.  They're more portable than my Copics and cost less to replace if I happen to lose one.  The paper is Recollections Card stock.  Gaylord the camel can be purchased at the studio.  Click the watermarked image below to be transported:

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a fabulous week!
Don't forget to grab the
Hugs and happy crafting.

Sketchbook News: Going to Alaska and a Free Digi for June

Howdy friends.  I hope you're having a happy June so far.  I'm here to post your free digital stamp for June and show you where I've been and what I've been working on.  I was lucky to visit Savannah, Georgia USA last weekend.  Savannah is a historical masterpiece filled with art, music and architecture.  The perfect place to get lost with a camera.  I also stopped by Bonaventure Cemetery just outside the city.  Have a look at a few photos from my trip.

Seeing all those photos makes me want to go back!
OK, focus! Moving on to studio business :)
I've completed my first commission piece of art.  I sketched this piece for my dear mother in law, Marie.  Marie and I searched for a gift for her friend, Diane, who lives in Alaska.  After browsing through every local store in Myrtle Beach, we came up empty-handed.  Marie told me that Diane loves Irises so after some thought, I pulled up a few photos from my Iris garden and sketched this piece.
This sketch is moving to Alaska and I hope Diane likes it :)
You can purchase Oak Pond Creation's Iris as a digital stamp at Oak Pond Creations Digital Illustration Studio.  Click on the watermarked image below.

Your free digital stamp for June:

June's Digi is now expired.  Check back in July for another free digi :)

Sketchbook News: New in the Studio!

It's the last day of April.  Do you know what that means at Oak Pond Creations?  It's the last day to get this month's free digital stamp.  If you hurry you can still grab it here:
I'm glad spring is in full swing at Oak Pond.  This past month, the thermometer took us on a roller coaster ride.  We went from freezing ice to 90 degree days and everywhere in between but the sunshine and warm air are finally here to stay.  Dear husband, Lou started planting the veggie garden this week and our boys are very excited (rolling my eyes) that it's lawn mower season.
This time of year it's hard for me to stay inside the house but I've managed to add some new images to the studio.

This is Oak Pond Creation's Camel
My niece is graduating Campbell University next week.  Their mascot is a camel named Gaylord.  Just had to create this guy!

Oak Pond Creation's Crown of Thorns.
A reminder that He is risen and we can do all things through Him :)

Oak Pond Creation's Rooster
This guy has been on my sketchbook for quite some time.  We spent many years raising chickens at Oak Pond and our Rooster Georgie was a total crack-up.

The real Georgie struttin' his stuff

I hope you have a wonderful, creative week.  Hugs and happy crafting!

Happy Easter!

I hope you are having a splendid Easter holiday, celebrating the resurrection of Christ with your family and loved ones.  I've been a busy bee this weekend, I know this post is late but I wanted to share the cards I made for our two boys this year.
 Ethan's card featured Happy Rabbit

Evan's card featured Ducklings

Both cards were created with Recollections card stock and DP from my stash.  Cuttlebug embossing folder and a Stamp from Michael's

I have a few new images in the studio that I will be announcing in a future post.  Enjoy your holiday and God Bless you and your family.
Hugs and happy crafting!

It's Raining Babies!

There is nothing more precious than a brand new baby.  My BFF and fellow crafter, Jeni from Flip Flop Creations has a brand new grandson, Luke.  I spent some time with little Luke and his family over the weekend and want to share the card I made for this little guy.
I went in search of an old friend for this one.  It had been quite a while since we'd worked together so I had to search high and low before I finally found him sitting on the shelf under my desk.  At first I wasn't sure it was him, but after sweeping away the cob-webs and blowing off the dust, there stood my trusty Cricut ready for work.  I grabbed my "A Child's Year" cartridge and we made Luke's card together.
I used Recollections Blue Elephants designer paper and card stock for this entire project.
I was so happy with the way Luke's card turned out, I spent the rest of the day making cards with Mr. Cricut.  I'll have to put him to work more often :)

Meet my crafty friends!
(L to R)
Lovely Linda from Turtle in the Sand, Fabulous Jeni from Flip Flop Creations, Jeni's magnificent mom & proud Great Grandma Jan, Me with adorable Baby Luke, and beautiful, creative & proud mom Savannah
I wish that every reader be blessed with good friends in life.  There is nothing more fulfilling than having great friends to rejoice with during the good times and lift each other up during the bad.
My thanks and love to the ladies pictured! I'm a lucky gal to have these wonderful people in my life.

So much color after a cold, snowy winter is just the inspiration I need to get creative!  This week I'm sponsoring:
The theme this fortnight is All Creatures Great and Small.
Grab your furry, scaly or feathered inspiration and join the fun for a chance to win 3 free images from the Oak Pond Studio.
